Most named suppliers below have minimums above a first run; ask your factory what they can source, because their existing supplier relationships have no minimum for you.

Soling and bottom units
Ask every one of these for their open-mold / stock catalogue:
- Vibram — the best-known soling brand; runs a stock soling programme and has genuine brand value on the outsole
- Margom — Italian soling used widely in luxury sneakers
- Chinese sole factories clustered in Jinjiang and Dongguan — the deepest open-mold catalogues anywhere; usually reached through your assembly factory or an agent
- Portuguese and Spanish soling houses around Felgueiras and Elche
- Your assembly factory’s own in-house library — always ask first

Lasts
Last makers are usually regional and work closely with factories. The practical route is: ask your factory what lasts they hold, then ask which ones are matched to your shortlisted sole. Independent last makers exist in Portugal, Italy, Spain and China; your factory or sole supplier can introduce you.
Trade and compliance
- Licensed customs broker in your import country — essential, hire one in Week 17
- US CBP — binding ruling requests for classification certainty
- GS1 — the only legitimate source of barcode prefixes
- AFIRM Group — publishes a widely used Restricted Substances List you can adopt as a baseline
Finding factories online
- Alibaba / Global Sources — high volume, low signal. Usable with hard vetting and Trade Assurance; never skip verification
- LinkedIn — search “footwear developer,” “footwear merchandiser,” “sourcing manager”
- Ask other small brands — founders of small footwear brands are unusually generous with sourcing advice. This works more often than people expect
- Ask your sole supplier for introductions — the single most underused and most effective route
